RIM patents Rotating Keyboard Keys - possibly for earlier Rotating Keyboard Patent?

I'm not sure what to make of this RIM spotted Pat Lucas @ N4BB for rotating keyboards. This comes after RIM patent in August of last year, rotating on a keyboard. At first it would make sense for the software keyboard, but the whole system seems to physical keys, which are perpendicular to rotate suddenly focused on you with another application. It could be, RIM had to say, it is a hardware function to obtain a patent, because software patents more difficult to win, but who knows. Or maybe there is some project management at RIM exec mandating that all rotate. Here is the abstract RIM is provided:

A customizable keyboard for handheld electronic device provided. The keyboard keys are rotated, either individually or in groups, either by manual control of a user of the device or through one or more micro-motors and solenoid valves controlled by a microprocessor with software on the device. The keyboard can be integrated into the device or removable come of it.
